The last thing to do with an empty jar of pasta sauce

What is pasta sauce, if not one of the most versatile pantry staples out there? I always have at least a few jars on the pantry shelves and find them regularly for quick meals (think: meatballs, spiraled pumpkin spaghetti, chili, stuffed peppers, and more).

And guess what? The jars themselves are actually just as versatile! Yes, if you use pasta sauce as much as I do, it means you have a constant amount of the best glass containers.

Next time you empty a jar of pasta sauce and swirl the water to clean it, think twice before throwing it in the trash. Instead, the last thing you should do with your empty jar of pasta sauce is take out the label so that it is nice and clean and ready to use.

My favorite way to remove labels from jars is to give them one

Another way to remove sticky residue is with a little coconut oil and baking soda. Break the label and then apply the remaining coconut oil. Let it sit for a while and then sprinkle baking soda on the oil. Use a sponge to clean the residue and rinse clean.

Anyway, back to the jars: if you do this with each jar of finished pasta sauce, you will offer a beautiful collection of versatile jars. The jars are large enough to store the remaining soups and broths (make sure you don't fill them to the brim so that the liquid expands as it freezes). I also like to use them for sprouting avocado pits. You can even use a huge glass of water on the WFH desk if you try to drink more water.

If you usually buy the same type of tomato sauce, your jars will be uniform, which is a great bonus factor if you plan to use them for storage. For example, I have a set of pasta jars whose lids I have painted and labeled. I use them to store dried beans and beans in the pantry.

Whatever you do with the jars of tomatoes, even if you still don't know what it will be, becoming a habit to remove the labels as soon as you use the sauce, opens up a world of reuse opportunities.

Fried spaghetti

I know fried = bad, but I had to try. From what I understand, it's an Italian street dish, a kind of fast food of theirs. The taste is similar to the omelet in which pasta was put: D. And as I am an omelet fan, I really liked it. You can also make a large omelette in which the pasta is mixed, but I preferred to make small rolls, they come out crispier and look more pleasant.

ingredients:

  • 2 cloves of finely chopped garlic, possibly passed through the garlic press
  • fresh parsley
  • 2 eggs
  • a yolk
  • 2 mains parmesan ras
  • 200 gr boiled spaghetti
  • salt and pepper to taste
  • optional: a finely chopped hot pepper

All ingredients, except spaghetti, are mixed in a bowl. Boiled and cooled pasta, cut them in half with a knife (I broke them in half before boiling, so that I don't bother anymore), and add them to the bowl, mixing everything very well.

Put oil in a pan, do not skimp, but you should not fry in an oil bath, as for the omelet, maybe 2 tablespoons more. When it is well heated, put heaps of spaghetti in it, their size being according to your preferences. Fry them until golden and crispy on both sides. Depending on the size, they can be completely corcant, or corcant on the outside and soft and moist on the inside. A delight!
